During my time at Apple, I participated in numerous projects in various project phases and contributed with several ideas and suggestions for improvements on existing systems and processes. At my own initiative I started a number of projects, redesigning several tools. Some are briefly explained below.

Internal logistics tool

Using interviews, feedback, brainstorming sessions, focus groups, coordination with management and product owners I presented a complete created a redesign of a key internal system used world wide at Apple.

As a team I spearheaded the project and administered the progress. The project garnered a lot of attention and raised several potential improvements to the effectiveness of the tool, introduced a more streamlined way of work and put a lot of focus on universal design, which in turn improves the user experience and adoptability of the tool.

Due to technical limitations to the SAP framework in use, the project was not feasible. An upgrade to the back-end was necessary to move forward. Some features presented in the project were implement none the less. The project also contributed to the conversation concerning the SAP update, which will move forward. The project will therefore be feasible in the future.

Gift Card tool redesign

Based on feedback and my own experience using the tool, I identified the main issues and problem areas related to Gift Cards. Coordinating with the SAP team for insight into potential solutions helped drive the ideation phase, resulting in wireframes and interactive prototypes of a new system and UI that would simplify the process and eliminate common errors. Human errors being the primary cause of problems, fuelled by an unintuitive interface.

The project received positive feedback. However, due to quarterly priorities and budgeting, the project was not realised. A different solution with UI similarities was launched with a focus on a busier market region and focused on more specific functionality for the same region.

Other projects

Apple had an internal platform where one could submit suggestions for improvements. Anything from features, new functionality, environmental requests at the work place to social events within the company.

During my time at Apple I was an avid user and ambassador for the platform. I had in excess of 20 submissions from small to large. These were aimed at internal systems, the submission platform itself as well as some Apple product suggestions. The majority of which were accepted and implemented.

This is a short list of some of my more notable contributions:

  • Redesigned internal task management tool: Focusing on usability,

    especially in the form of recognition vs recall principles - colour coding action points, visual representation of actions, natural work flow, skeuomorphism, conditional representation.

  • Add tracking input field into logistical tool: The input field simplified a work process in regard to logistics - cutting down on the number of steps necessary to complete a task positively contributing to both the business and customer experience.

  • Statistics & Information Board: A statistics overview for supervisors to better monitor agents' performance and view live feed of current work load status of the department.

  • Ticket processing tool UI changes: Design improvements to the UI to better categorise functionality and improve effectiveness of agents
